Founder & Leadership
Thorsen Logistics Group LLC is founded and led by Tanner D. Thorsen, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran with extensive experience across logistics execution, administrative compliance, and operational leadership.
Born at Balboa Naval Hospital to two active-duty Navy parents and raised near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Tanner enlisted in the United States Marine Corps immediately after high school. He served as a Motor Transport Operator and progressed into leadership roles spanning both administrative and logistics sections.
Early in his career, Tanner served as On-Vehicle Equipment (OVE) Chief, where he was responsible for vehicle compliance records and ensuring all tactical assets met Marine Corps equipment standards. His precision and attention to detail led to additional responsibilities as the Commanding Officer’s Driver for a Group Colonel at II Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group, supporting exercises including MEFEX-16.
Tanner later transitioned into the S-1 Administrative Section, where he applied the same rigor to personnel records, correspondence, and compliance documentation. During the re-designation of II Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group to II Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group, he played a central role in rewriting and updating hundreds of pages of administrative manuals, training binders, and compliance documents to reflect the new command structure. He also coordinated the physical relocation and reestablishment of the S-1 shop, maintaining operational continuity throughout the transition.
Advancing to the S-4 Logistics Section, Tanner served as Unit Movement Control Center (UMCC) Chief with the Intelligence Battalion at Wallace Creek. In this role, he managed transportation coordination for personnel and equipment, supported deployment logistics for Task Force Southwest rotations, and synchronized large-scale movements between Camp Lejeune and MCAS Cherry Point. He contributed to logistics planning and execution for exercises including Large Scale Exercise 17, Bold Alligator 17, and Trident Juncture 2018.
These combined experiences across administrative precision and logistics execution formed the foundation of Tanner’s approach to leadership: meticulous documentation, validated processes, and mission-level accountability.
From Service to Enterprise
Following honorable service, Tanner transitioned into the private sector, building experience in transportation management, compliance, and carrier relations. He launched a small hauling operation, gaining firsthand insight into owner-operator realities and commercial contracting from the ground up.
That experience led to broader consulting and leadership roles, where he drove significant revenue growth through disciplined sales execution, operational structure, and scalable systems. Those lessons ultimately culminated in the founding of Thorsen Logistics Group LLC, designed to bring military-grade organization and integrity into government freight brokerage and federal logistics support.
Today, Tanner leads the strategic vision, systems development, and federal positioning of TLG and its affiliated entities, ensuring the company operates with the same standards of accountability and readiness demanded within military and federal environments.
Mission, Carrier-First Model, and Community Impact
TLG operates on a Carrier-First model, structured to prioritize fairness, transparency, and long-term reliability. By passing the majority of each load’s value directly to carrier partners, the company strengthens execution quality while maintaining the compliance and operational stability required for federal work.
Service does not end with logistics. A portion of TLG’s efforts supports Beds for Kids, an affiliated charitable initiative dedicated to ensuring children have safe, comfortable places to sleep. Through partnerships with local organizations, churches, and community groups, Beds for Kids coordinates the acquisition and delivery of beds, mattresses, pillows, and bedding to families in need.
Every shipment managed by TLG represents more than freight. It reflects a commitment to service, accountability, and leaving communities stronger than they were found.
