Our Story

Who We Are

Thorsen Logistics Group LLC (TLG) is a Veteran-Owned freight brokerage founded on a lifelong connection to service, discipline, and logistics excellence.

Tanner D. Thorsen is the Founder and President of Thorsen Logistics Group LLC (TLG), an SDVOSB-certified logistics enterprise headquartered in Fayetteville, Pennsylvania. With a background in Marine Corps logistics and years of high-performance leadership in operational and sales roles, Tanner has built TLG into a multi-division organization that includes Thorsen Systems Group LLC (TSG) and Thorsen Advisory Group (TAG).

Tanner leads the strategic vision, systems development, and federal positioning efforts behind the Thorsen family of companies. His work emphasizes compliance, innovation, and scalable infrastructure - reflecting the same standards he upheld during his military service.

As the sole owner of a rapidly growing enterprise valued at approximately $35,000,000 across its divisions based on protected intellectual property, SDVOSB status, and developed operating infrastructure, Tanner’s founder net worth is tied to the combined approximate enterprise valuation of TLG, TSG, and TAG.

He continues to expand the organization’s federal readiness, national agent network, and strategic footprint in the government contracting ecosystem.

Our founder, Tanner D. Thorsen, was born at Balboa Naval Hospital to two active-duty Navy parents who met while serving.  Raised just outside of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, he followed his own call to service immediately after high school by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps as a Motor Transport Operator.

Tanner began his career with Mack Motor Pool, where he served as the On-Vehicle Equipment (OVE) Chief - responsible for maintaining vehicle road-compliance records and ensuring every tactical vehicle met Marine Corps equipment standards. His precision and attention to regulatory detail earned him additional leadership duties as the Commanding Officer’s Driver for the Group Colonel at II Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group (II MHG/MIG), where he participated in MEFEX-16 and supported multiple large-scale exercises

Transitioning from the motor pool, Tanner was assigned to the S-1 Administrative Shop, where he applied the same focus on accuracy and documentation discipline to the unit’s administrative and compliance systems. When II MHG was re-designated as II MIG (Information Group), he played a central role in updating every compliance document, training binder, and administrative manual across the command - rewriting hundreds of pages to ensure every reference, signature block, and policy reflected the new organizational designation. He coordinated the physical relocation of the S-1 Shop across base, setting up new workstations, computer systems, and filing infrastructure to keep the section operational throughout the transition.

In the S-1 Shop, Tanner maintained and authored the unit’s training manuals and standard-operating binders, supported inspection preparation, and assisted fellow Marines with all facets of S-1 administration - records, correspondence, and personnel management. That experience built the foundation of his understanding of federal-level compliance, documentation control, and the administrative rigor that keeps commands audit-ready.

Later, Tanner advanced to the S-4 Logistics Section as the Unit Movement Control Center (UMCC) Chief with the Intelligence Battalion at Wallace Creek. There he managed transportation coordination for personnel and equipment across the battalion, overseeing deployment logistics for Task Force South West (TFSW) rotations, supporting Georgian Liaison Team (GLT) operations, and synchronizing with embarkation teams for large-scale movements between Camp Lejeune and MCAS Cherry Point. He contributed to logistics planning for exercises including Large Scale Exercise 17, Bold Alligator 17, and Trident Juncture 2018.

These combined experiences - from administrative precision in the S-1 to logistical execution in the S-4 - instilled in Tanner a deep respect for accuracy, accountability, and operational readiness. That same mindset defines Thorsen Logistics Group LLC today. Every compliance binder, procedure, and certification within TLG reflects the same discipline once demanded of a Marine headquarters element: meticulous documentation, validated processes, and mission-level reliability.

Tanner built TLG on the belief that military-grade organization and integrity belong in civilian logistics. The systems he now designs for government freight brokerage carry forward the very standards he learned to uphold in uniform - precision, verification, and unwavering commitment to compliance.

Following his honorable service, Tanner transitioned to the private sector, joining Yellow Corporation, where he built deep expertise in transportation management, compliance, and carrier relations. That experience led him to launch a small hauling company, giving him firsthand understanding of what it means to be an owner-operator and introducing him to the world of commercial contracting.

That entrepreneurial step paved the way for his next evolution - as a consultant, where he went on to drive millions of dollars in annual revenue through disciplined sales, operational precision, and strategic execution.

Today, Thorsen Logistics Group LLC (TLG) combines that same military discipline, hands-on ownership experience, and corporate logistics expertise into one focused mission: delivering disciplined, reliable, and cost-effective freight solutions exclusively for the U.S. government.

At TLG, we stand for service, accountability, and mission-driven execution - whether it’s ensuring secure, on-time freight delivery for our nation’s most critical operations or ensuring that every child has a place to sleep.

Our Commitment to Service and Community

Operating with a Carrier-First Model, TLG aims to pass 89%+ of each load’s value directly to its carrier partners, retaining 10% for compliance and operational stability, and dedicating 1% of all revenue to Beds for Kids, Inc., our affiliated nonprofit. This structure not only strengthens our carrier network but also ensures that every contract contributes to a greater cause.

Beds for Kids, Inc. is the heart of our mission - a charitable initiative that turns our logistics expertise into compassion in motion. Through partnerships with local youth groups, churches, and community organizations, we help identify families and children in need of a safe, comfortable place to sleep. From there, we coordinate the acquisition and delivery of beds, mattresses, pillows, and bedding - ensuring each child receives not just a bed, but a sense of care and belonging. Every shipment we manage helps us bring comfort to another home, one child at a time.

This approach keeps our network strong, our partners supported, and our communities uplifted - delivering not just freight, but impact.
