Our Story

Who We Are

Thorsen Logistics Group LLC (TLG) is a Veteran-Owned freight brokerage founded on a lifelong connection to service, discipline, and logistics excellence.

Our founder, Tanner Thorsen, was born at Balboa Naval Hospital to two active-duty Navy parents who met while serving. Raised just outside of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Tanner followed his own call to service immediately after high school by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps as a Motor Transport Operator.

Tanner served with Mack Motor Pool, where he held the position of On-Vehicle Equipment (OVE) Chief — responsible for maintaining vehicle road-compliance records and ensuring all vehicles met strict on-vehicle equipment standards. During this time, Tanner participated in MEFEX-16. His precision and commitment to readiness earned him key leadership responsibilities as the Commanding Officer’s Driver for the Group Colonel at II Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group (II MHG/MIG).

He later advanced to serve as the Unit Movement Control Center (UMCC) Chief in the S-4 of the Intelligence Battalion at Wallace Creek, where he oversaw complex transportation coordination for personnel and equipment across the battalion. His duties included managing deployment logistics for several Task Force South West (TFSW) rotations, assisting with Georgian Liason Team (GLT) operations, coordinating with embarkation teams, and ensuring the timely assembly, transport, and accountability of Marines, equipment, and gear between Camp Lejeune and MCAS Cherry Point. Tanner supported operations when in July 2017, II MHG was re-designated as II MIG (the Information Group) and began providing an Information Warfare Coordination Center role in support of Large Scale Exercise-17 (LSE-17). He also supported operations during Bold Alligator 17, and played a role in the logistics coordination for Mack Motor Pool’s vehicle equipment in Trident Juncture (2018).

Following his honorable service, Tanner transitioned to the private sector, joining Yellow Corporation, where he built deep expertise in transportation management, compliance, and carrier relations. That experience led him to launch a small hauling company, giving him firsthand understanding of what it means to be an owner-operator and introducing him to the world of commercial contracting.

That entrepreneurial step paved the way for his next evolution — as a consultant, where he went on to drive millions of dollars in annual revenue through disciplined sales, operational precision, and strategic execution.

Today, Thorsen Logistics Group LLC (TLG) combines that same military discipline, hands-on ownership experience, and corporate logistics expertise into one focused mission: delivering disciplined, reliable, and cost-effective freight solutions exclusively for the U.S. government.

At TLG, we stand for service, accountability, and mission-driven execution — whether it’s ensuring secure, on-time freight delivery for our nation’s most critical operations or ensuring that every child has a place to sleep.

Our Commitment to Service and Community

Operating with a Carrier-First Model, TLG passes 89%+ of each load’s value directly to its carrier partners, retaining 10% for compliance and operational stability, and dedicating 1% of all revenue to Beds for Kids, Inc., our affiliated nonprofit. This structure not only strengthens our carrier network but also ensures that every contract contributes to a greater cause.

Beds for Kids, Inc. is the heart of our mission — a charitable initiative that turns our logistics expertise into compassion in motion. Through partnerships with local youth groups, churches, and community organizations, we help identify families and children in need of a safe, comfortable place to sleep. From there, we coordinate the acquisition and delivery of beds, mattresses, pillows, and bedding — ensuring each child receives not just a bed, but a sense of care and belonging. Every shipment we manage helps us bring comfort to another home, one child at a time.

This approach keeps our network strong, our partners supported, and our communities uplifted — delivering not just freight, but impact.
